That's the End?!

I'm the kind of girl that likes to read fluffy happy stories. I tend to write fluffy happy stories. I'm a hopeless romantic and somehow it just doesn't feel right unless there is a love story somewhere in my writing, lol!

That said, I often read or watch things that have a sad ending. These things inspire me because I then want to rewrite it so it has a happy ending! I also read a lot of yaoi - which totally explains the abundance of gay stories I've written lately, lol! I have NO IDEA why I like yaoi so much (FYI: yaoi is a japanese word that means y- love, or in other words, love between those with the y chromosome. It differs from Shonen ai - boys love - in that is is a whole genre that is written by women generally for women, and gets graphic... makes me wish I could draw, LMAO!)

Anyway, I just read one in which one of the main characters dies, and THAT was the end. I felt betrayed! Where is my happy ending??? The Mangaka (woman who wrote and illustrated the story), got so much outraged feedback, that she eventually showed the other main character move on with his life. He got married - to a woman... - but he never really got over his lover's death. This bugged me!

I wanted to write a story about it, and make it right, BUT... I literally just did that, lol! Falling Apart Again was what I wrote in response to a different yaoi story in which a man sits by his older lover's side until he slips from his coma into death. In that yaoi, they show the man grieve, work through his grief, and then move on, and I really liked that story. That's why I was inspired to write my own version. I quickly realized that I couldn't really write another story about the same thing, so now I'm sitting here frustrated.

And THAT'S why I like my stories to be fluffy and happy! Sigh!

Now that I got that off my chest, I need to find a new story to read that has a happy ending. Good night all, and have pleasant dreams :-D

  1. I can see how this would be a problem, Roxanne. I've not been keeping up with you, and I know I have a LOT of stories to read. I've been trying to keep up with emails, and not having much luck. So I"m gonna immerse myself in your site and read for a couple of hours. (Yes, I said a LOT, didn't I?!?)

  3. I did have fun reading. I read and read and read and read, lol. I'm all caught up. (Just so you know, I hadn't even read everything for Sept, so I really had to go way back!)
