I read a book once in which a man - ok an elf - searched for years to find his one true mate, and when he found her, he fawned all over her and vowed to stay by her side no matter how much she tried to push him away. At first, he annoyed the hell out of her, but then she grew to depend on him, and finally admitted that she loved him. It got me to thinking; Hey wait just one minute! That's not how it works in real life! If a man like that were real - and, by the way, he was very gallant, not creepy - he would probably still be considered a stalker and have a restraining order taken out against him. I kept wondering why - if he annoyed her so much - she let him stay by her side, though I knew she secretly loved him. Even so, I wanted to write a story in which the man finds his woman, but she doesn't want to be with him and no matter how hard he tries, in the end, he just has to accept that it wasn't meant to be. That was the inspiration for Kira's story. And besides, often in a divorce, one of the people leaves the other, and the other one has to deal with being abandoned. Not just abandoned: he or she has to deal with the fact that the person they love most in the world just doesn't want to be with them, and is in fact happier with someone else. I'm sure most readers will think Kira should haven chosen Jareth, but I ask why? Why should she choose him when she is truly happier with Lee?
You suck. You made me cry, lol.
